01 What we engineer

One technology, transmitted four ways

Every Fluidomat coupling transmits power hydrodynamically — through oil, not metal contact — so drives start soft, run protected and last longer. Choose the principle your machine needs.

Constant-fill couplings

Fixed-speed SM, HF, SMP and T-series with delayfil control for soft no-load motor starts and adjustable starting torque from 120%.

View fixed-speed range

Variable speed scoop

Stepless speed control up to 5:1 from a fixed-speed motor. Ideal for fans and pumps where speed control turns into real energy savings.

Fill-control & IC drives

FNCT fill-control couplings for controlled conveyor & crusher start-up, and FNIC drain-type couplings purpose-built for IC-engine drives.

Custom drive solutions

Indigenous technology and in-house foundries let us custom-build couplings to your shaft, space and torque envelope — with application engineering support.

Our capabilities
03 Variable speed · Energy saving

Slow the fan, save the energy bill.

In centrifugal machines, power demand falls with the cube of speed. By varying oil fill through a sliding scoop tube, a Fluidomat SC coupling gives stepless speed control on a rugged squirrel-cage motor — replacing wasteful throttle control and earning money back through energy savings.

  • No-load motor start — starting current decays in seconds
  • 10–40% power saving on typical fan & pump duties
  • Continuous declutching with the motor still running

06 How we work with you

From drive problem to commissioned solution

Fluidomat is one of a select few coupling makers in the world with its own technology — so we engineer the answer, not just supply a part.

1

Consult & study

We study your drive, duty cycle and site constraints to define the real problem and the energy opportunity.

2

Application engineering

Our designers size and select — or custom-build — the right coupling using in-house AutoCAD & SolidWorks expertise.

3

Manufacture & test

Cast in our own non-ferrous & CI foundries, machined and performance-tested under our ISO 9001 quality system.

4

Install & support

Installation, commissioning and lifetime application support — backed by a global representative network.

07 In the field

What plant engineers tell us

“The variable speed coupling on our ID fan has been working satisfactorily since February 1995 — and we’ve achieved an energy saving of 1330 units per day.”

K. S. N. Murthy
General Manager – Works

“We replaced the clutch between our FD fan and motor with a Fluidomat fluid coupling and saved approximately 400 KW of power. Performance has been very satisfactory.”

Ajay Singh
General Manager

“We supplied 27 SMD-11 couplings for the Younghung Power Plant coal-handling system in Korea. Commissioned in April 2003, they are working satisfactorily to date.”

Frequently asked questions

A fluid coupling transmits power between a driving and driven shaft through oil rather than mechanical contact. An impeller accelerates the oil, which drives a turbine runner — giving soft starts, overload protection, vibration damping and (in variable-speed types) stepless speed control, all with no wearing parts in the drive path.

For fans and pumps, power demand falls with the cube of speed. A variable-speed scoop coupling controls flow by reducing speed instead of throttling — saving 10–40% of energy. Fluidomat couplings are recognised as energy-saving devices by the Government of India.

Choose a constant-fill (fixed-speed) coupling when you need soft starting, motor protection and load sharing at constant running speed. Choose a variable-speed scoop coupling when the process benefits from speed control — typically fans, pumps and slurry duties. Our engineers will recommend the right type for your duty.

Fluidomat couplings serve industrial and automotive drives up to 6000 KW — fans, pumps, conveyors, crushers, mills, shredders and IC-engine drives across power, cement, steel, metals, paper, fertilizer, chemical and port industries.

Yes. As one of the few coupling makers worldwide with its own technology and in-house foundries, Fluidomat regularly custom-builds couplings to fit existing shaft-to-shaft distances, space and torque envelopes — exactly as we did for NTPC and Indo Gulf.

Fluidomat is certified to ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018, covering design, manufacture, supply, installation and commissioning. Application engineering and energy-saving support are part of every project, backed by domestic and international representatives.
